Psyllium Seeds
Best known for its laxative properties, Psyllium seeds are coated with mucilage, a natural gummy substance that does not dissolve in water. Instead, mucilage forms a thick, gooey mass when exposed to fluids. The body does not digest mucilage, so the resulting large soft mass moves through the intestines, usually also triggering intestinal muscle contractions, thus assisting with normal peristalsis. In addition, the mucilage forms a slick coating on the walls of the intestines. All of these effects help when easy defecation with soft stools is desired.  Pack Information100 Capsules DosageFor adults: take three capsules with a meal twice daily. CautionAlways read the label. Drink plenty of water and increase fibre in the diet. If symptoms persist consult your healthcare practitioner.   Therapeutic UseA ‘mucilaginous’ herb traditionally used in Ayurvedic and Chinese herbal medicine to aid in the management of mild constipation. May be helpful in conditions where easy defecation with soft stools is desirable.
